Acceptable Use Policy

Salieno gives you powerful software for running a hosting business. This Acceptable Use Policy (the "AUP" or "policy") explains the small number of things you must not do with it. These rules exist to keep Salieno, our customers, and the wider internet safe — and to keep your licence in good standing.

Please read this policy alongside our Terms of Service, of which it forms a part. If there is a conflict between this policy and the Terms, the Terms govern, except where this policy is more specific about acceptable use.

This policy is versioned. The effective date is shown alongside the published version, and earlier versions are retained.

Who and what this policy covers

This AUP applies to everyone who holds a Salieno account, holds or uses a Salieno Core licence, buys from the marketplace, or otherwise uses any service at salieno.com. In this policy:

• "Salieno," "we," "us," and "our" mean the operator of salieno.com and Salieno Core.
• "You" and "your" mean the customer — the person or business that holds the account and licence.
• "Salieno Core" means our self-hosted hosting-automation software that you install and run on your own server under a monthly licence.
• "salieno.com services" means the parts of our platform that we operate: the storefront, your Salieno account and sign-in (the Salieno identity provider), the licence-activation server, the update and download servers, and the add-on marketplace.
• "End-clients" means your own customers, whom you serve using Salieno Core.

Where responsibility sits

Salieno Core is self-hosted. You install it on your own server, and you operate it. That has two important consequences.

• You are responsible for your install and everything on it. This includes the server itself, its security and uptime, the content and services you and your end-clients host, and the legal basis for what you do. Salieno never receives, stores, or has access to your end-clients' data — that data lives only on your server.
• You are responsible for your end-clients. You should have your own acceptable-use and service terms with them, and you are responsible for handling abuse that originates from them.

What we operate are the salieno.com services listed above. Of your information, we hold only your own account data (your identity through the Salieno identity provider — your email, name, and authentication factors) and your billing data (Stripe processes your card; we never store card numbers). We can act directly on those services and on your licence; we cannot reach into your server.

This policy tells you what you must not do — both with Salieno Core and with the salieno.com services.

What you must not do

You must not use Salieno Core or any salieno.com service to do, host, enable, or help anyone else do any of the following.

Illegal content and activity

• Host, store, distribute, or process content or services that are unlawful where you, your end-clients, or your users are located.
• Facilitate a business that is itself illegal — for example fraud, illegal gambling, human trafficking, or the sale of controlled or prohibited goods where doing so breaks the law.
• Host, distribute, or process child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexually exploits or endangers minors. This is an absolute prohibition. We report suspected CSAM to the appropriate authorities and preserve related records as required by law.
• Publish or facilitate content that incites violence, terrorism, or serious harm to others.

Spam and unsolicited messaging

• Send, relay, or provision infrastructure for bulk unsolicited email, SMS, or other messaging ("spam").
• Use Salieno Core's mail, notification, or ticketing features to message recipients who have not consented to hear from you, or in a way that breaks anti-spam laws such as CAN-SPAM, GDPR / PECR, CASL, or their equivalents.
• Operate open relays, "snowshoe" spam operations, or list-washing services, or evade spam filters, rate limits, or blocklists.
• Forge or falsify email headers, sender identities, or routing information in any message.

Malware, phishing, and fraud

• Distribute, host, or run command-and-control for malware, ransomware, spyware, rootkits, cryptojacking scripts, or other malicious code.
• Operate phishing sites, credential-harvesting pages, or fake sign-in flows, or impersonate any person, brand, or organization in order to deceive.
• Run carding, account-takeover, or payment-fraud operations, or knowingly process stolen payment details.
• Use Salieno Core or salieno.com to trick people into handing over money, credentials, or personal data.

Infringing intellectual property and the rights of others

• Host, distribute, or resell content, software, media, or trademarks that you do not have the right to use.
• Enable piracy — for example warez, cracked software, unlicensed streaming, or circumventing technical protection measures.
• Violate the privacy, publicity, or data-protection rights of others, including doxxing or unlawful surveillance.

If you receive a valid infringement or takedown notice for something on your install, you are responsible for handling it — Salieno cannot remove content from a server it does not host.

Sanctions, export controls, and prohibited parties

• Use Salieno Core or salieno.com if you, your business, or your end-client is located in, ordinarily resident in, or organized under the laws of a country or region subject to comprehensive economic sanctions, or if you are named on a restricted-party or denied-persons list — including those maintained by the United States (OFAC), the United Nations, the United Kingdom, or the European Union.
• Provide, resell, or make our software available to any sanctioned or restricted party, or export or re-export it in breach of applicable export-control laws.

You are responsible for screening yourself and your end-clients against these requirements. If your circumstances change and you become a restricted party, you must stop using the services.

Security and integrity of Salieno's systems

• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any salieno.com service, or breach or circumvent any authentication, licensing, or security measure, except under a program we authorize in writing.
• Interfere with or disrupt the licence server, update server, marketplace, or identity provider — for example through denial-of-service traffic, automated abuse, or request flooding.
• Access, or attempt to access, another customer's account, licence, or data.

Your licence and the marketplace

Your right to use Salieno Core depends on an active, paid licence. You must not:

• Use Salieno Core without a valid licence, or beyond what your licence permits.
• Share, resell, sublicense, or transfer your licence key, or use one licence to run installations for parties it was not issued to, except where your plan expressly allows it.
• Tamper with, spoof, proxy, patch, or otherwise defeat licence activation, licence checks, validation "phone-home" requests, or the update mechanism, or run modified builds designed to bypass them.
• Abuse the 30-day free trial — for example by creating multiple accounts, using disposable identities or payment methods, or otherwise evading trial limits to obtain repeated free periods.
• Abuse the marketplace — including making fraudulent purchases, filing bad-faith chargebacks, redistributing or reselling one-time add-ons you bought, or uploading add-ons that contain malware, infringe others' rights, or misrepresent what they do.
• Use fraudulent, stolen, or unauthorized payment details, or initiate chargebacks in bad faith on charges you actually owe.

Reverse-engineering and the software itself

Salieno Core is proprietary software. Parts of it are distributed as IonCube-encoded modules, and your licence does not include the source code of those modules. You must not:

• Decompile, disassemble, decrypt, deobfuscate, or otherwise reverse-engineer Salieno Core or any encoded module — except to the narrow extent that this cannot lawfully be prohibited (for instance, certain interoperability rights that some laws grant and that cannot be waived).
• Extract, copy, or reuse our proprietary code, algorithms, or assets to build a competing or derivative product.
• Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, licensing, or attribution notice.

Reporting abuse

If you believe someone is violating this policy — through a Salieno Core install, a marketplace add-on, or a salieno.com service — please tell us at [email protected]. Include as much detail as you can (URLs, screenshots, timestamps, and the nature of the abuse) so that we can investigate.

Because most Salieno Core installs run on customers' own servers that we do not host or control, reports about content on a specific install are often best sent to that operator or their hosting provider as well. We will act on whatever is within our control.

What happens if you break this policy

How we respond depends on how serious the violation is, whether it is ongoing, and the risk it poses to others. We may take any of the following steps, with or without prior notice where the law or the circumstances require:

• Ask you to fix it — notify you and give you a reasonable opportunity to stop the activity or remove offending material, where that is appropriate.
• Suspend salieno.com services — temporarily suspend your account, licence activation, updates, downloads, or marketplace access.
• Terminate — end your licence and close your account for serious, repeated, or unlawful violations.
• Reverse or withhold — cancel marketplace orders and revoke access to add-ons obtained through fraud or abuse.

What suspension or termination actually means. Because Salieno Core is self-hosted, we do not remove content from, or otherwise reach into, your server. What we control is your licence and your salieno.com services. If we suspend or terminate your licence, your Salieno Core installation stops receiving updates and downloads, and its licensed functionality — including the IonCube-encoded modules that require an active licence to run — stops working. Suspending or terminating your account also ends your access to the identity provider and the marketplace.

No refunds. You can cancel your subscription at any time, which stops future charges. Salieno does not offer a money-back guarantee, and amounts already paid are not refunded — including where your account or licence is suspended or terminated for a violation of this policy. This does not limit any rights you have that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Legal and safety action. For serious matters we may preserve relevant records, cooperate with law enforcement, and disclose information where we are legally required or permitted to do so. If a security incident affects the personal data we hold about you, we will notify affected customers without undue delay and, where required, within 72 hours of becoming aware of it.

Enforcing this policy is not a waiver of any right. We may act on any violation even if we did not act on a similar one before.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time — for example to reflect new features, new abuse patterns, or changes in the law. Each version is published with its effective date, and prior versions are retained. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use Salieno Core or salieno.com after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

Governing law and operator details

This policy, and any dispute relating to it, is governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW — owner to set jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
